Flupyrsulfuron is usually prepared as the methyl-sodium variant and is commercially synthesised through sulfonylurea chemistry. The production begins with the preparation of a pyrimidinyl amine and a trifluoromethyl-substituted pyridine sulfonyl chloride. These intermediates undergo condensation to form the sulfonylurea linkage, yielding flupyrsulfuron-methyl. The compound is then neutralised with sodium hydroxide to produce the sodium salt form. | [Mechanism of action]
