[Description]

A steroidal pregnane alkaloid present in Pachysandra terminalis Sieb. et Zucco The alkaloid is dextrorotatory with [α]D + 29° (1: I-MeOH-CHCI 3). Two hydroxyl groups are present and the base yields a crystalline O,O-diacetate, m.p. 202-4°C; [α]D + 40° (CHCl3)·
[Uses]

Terminaline is a compound that can be isolated from Sarcococca saligna. Terminaline has immunosuppressive activity and can inhibit the proliferation of T cells and the production of IL-2. In vivo, Terminaline can reduce CCl4-induced liver injury and has a good hepatoprotective effect[1].
[Definition]

ChEBI: Terminaline is a corticosteroid hormone.
