Amyloid 17-42 (Aβ(17-42)) is a major constituent of diffuse plaques in Alzheimer's disease and cerebellar pre-amyloid in Down's syndrome, derived by alpha- and gamma-secretase cleavage of the amyloid precursor protein (APP).
