Isolated from the leaves of Evodia xanthoxyloides, this alkaloid forms pale
yellow crystals which have two melting points with intermediate solidification.
Oxidation with concen trated HN03 furnishes 1: 4-dihydro-4-oxo-3-quinoline
carboxylic acid while treatment with methyl iodide in the presence of potassium
