Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate is a highly water-soluble, low-fat-soluble amine-succinic acid dimer chelating agent used in cosmetics to stabilise formulations and chelate metal ions. It is also used in industrial and pesticide applications. Its structure features an ethylamine bridge, which is the primary structural difference between it and tetrasodium iminodisuccinate; this structure confers its chelating ability. Industrially, it is used in plant protection products, as well as in washing and cleaning products (such as detergents, stain removers and kitchen cleaners).
