General procedure for the synthesis of methyl 3-amino-5-cyanobenzoate from methyl 3-cyano-5-nitrobenzoate: 10% Pd/C catalyst (0.9 g) was added to a mixed solution of methanol (200 mL) and tetrahydrofuran (100 mL) containing methyl 3-cyano-5-nitrobenzoate (25 mmol). Subsequently, the reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 4 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, the catalyst was removed by filtration and the filtrate was concentrated to afford methyl 3-amino-5-cyanobenzoate in 95% yield. | [References]
