1. To a solution of 2,3-dichloro-5-nitropyridine (50 mg) in methanol (1 ml) was slowly added sodium methanol (5 M methanol solution, 0.5 ml) at room temperature. 2. The reaction mixture was stirred continuously at room temperature for 1.5 h. 3. Upon completion of the reaction, an appropriate amount of water was added to the mixture and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. 4. The organic phase was collected, and the organic phase was washed with saturated saline. 5. The organic phase was dried using anhydrous sodium sulfate. 6.
