In parallel, they generate the alcohol fragment, a prallethrin-type allylic alcohol built from terpene-derived intermediates. These two components are then coupled via esterification under controlled conditions to form chloroprallethrin. Tests on dextrorotatory trans-cypermethrin as an aerosol against mosquitoes, barnyard grasshoppers, and cockroaches revealed its superior knockdown activity, outperforming dextrorotatory propargyl and more than 10 times that of methamidophos. A 0.035% dextrorotatory trans-cypermethrin aerosol was comparable in effectiveness against mosquitoes to 0.12% dextrorotatory propargyl and 0.5% methamidophos. |
