GENERAL METHOD: Trifluoroborate (1 mmol) was dissolved in 3 mL of a mixture of DMF and water (2:1 volume ratio) and cesium triiodide (1 mmol) was added. The reaction mixture was stirred at 80 °C until the reaction was complete (see Table 3 for reaction times). After completion of the reaction, the reaction solution was diluted with 10 mL of ether. The aqueous layer was extracted twice with ether (5 mL), and the organic phases were combined and dried with anhydrous Na2SO4. After evaporation of the solvent, the residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography [eluent: solvent mixture of hexane (or pentane) and ethyl acetate (or ether)]. | [References]
