Synthesis Example 1 Synthesis of 4,4'-dihydroxybenzoyl (0057): 4,4'-dimethoxybenzoyl (5.0 g) was dissolved in acetic acid (95 mL). A 48% aqueous hydrobromic acid solution (31.2 g) was slowly added dropwise at 70 °C for 10 min. After the dropwise addition was completed, the reaction mixture was warmed up to 110°C and the reaction was continuously stirred for 70 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, water (150 g) was added to the mixture to induce crystallization of the product. The crude product was collected by filtration and subsequently washed with water (250 g) and dried to give 4.0 g of 4,4'-dihydroxybenzoyl as the target product. | [References]
