[Uses]

Phospholipase C, Phosphatidylinositol-specific from Bacillus cereus has been used to cleave GPI-anchored protein from green fluorescent protein- glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GFP-GPI) from the cell membrane. It has also been used in invasion assay to test the involvement of PLAP in T. cruzi invasion to human epithelial type 2 (HEp-2) cells.
[Uses]

Phospholipase C, Phosphatidylinositol-specific from Bacillus cereus has been used:
  • in the hydrolysis of substrates p-nitrophenylphosphorylcholine (p-NPPC) and p-nitrophenylphosphorylphosphate (p-NPP)
  • to cleave glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchor of lynx1 protein and its detachment from plasma membrane
  • to cleave immunolabeled HeLa cells

[General Description]

Phosphatidylinositol-specific phospholipase C (PI-PLC) from Bacillus cereus is a 298 residual protein. It belongs to the class of ubiquitous enzymes. PI-PLC is characterized with a single globular domain and it folds into eight (βα) barrel sheets, out of which only six βα units are found in barrel, lacking helices between strands IV and V and V and VI.
[Biochem/physiol Actions]

Used for the release of GPI anchored proteins from the membrane.
