Benazolin-dimethylammonium is produced by first manufacturing technical benazolin, formed through acylation and cyclisation steps that generate the herbicide’s benzoxazinone acid core. Once the parent acid is available, producers convert it into the dimethylammonium salt to improve water solubility and compatibility with liquid formulations.
