It is the active ingredient found in the traditional Chinese herb Radix Dipsaci. It has a role as an apoptosis inducer, an antineoplastic agent, a plant metabolite, an anti-inflammatory agent, a bone density conservation agent, a neuroprotective agent and an antilipemic drug.
