GENERAL STEPS: 37% formaldehyde aqueous solution (1.26 mL, 16.9 mmol) was slowly added to a suspension of (2R)-piperidine-2-carboxylic acid (2.00 g, 15.5 mmol) with 5% Pd/C (500 mg) in methanol (20 mL).
