5′-Deoxyadenosine is a substrate for the enzyme methylthioadenosine/S-adenosylhomocysteine (MTA/SAH) nucleosidase in microbes. 5′-Deoxyadenosine is a byproduct of cleavage of S-adenosylmethionine (SAM).
