2-[4-(4-nitrophenyl)piperazin-1-yl]ethanol (3.6 g, 14.3 mmol) was used as a starting material and dissolved in methanol (40 mL). To this solution was added palladium/carbon catalyst (700 mg) and the reaction mixture was stirred at 0 °C overnight. After completion of the reaction, the catalyst was removed by filtration and the filtrate was concentrated to afford the target product 2-[4-(4-aminophenyl)piperazin-1-yl]ethanol (2.8 g, 88% yield) as a yellow solid. | [References]
