Dimethyl tetrasulfide has found very limited use in the reconstruction of certain essential oils, and in minute traces as a component of novel topnote compositions. It is also used to a limited degree in flavor compositions, ranging from Coffee imitation to Onion or imitation "vegetable" flavors.
