1. 5-bromo-2-iodo-1,3-xylene is dissolved in anhydrous N,N-dimethylformamide under nitrogen protection.
2. a palladium catalyst and an appropriate amount of base are added, and the reaction is heated to 80-100°C for 12-24 hours.
3. After completion of the reaction, cool to room temperature, dilute with water and extract with an organic solvent.
4. The organic layers were combined, dried with anhydrous sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated.
5. Purify the crude product by column chromatography to obtain 4-bromo-2,6-dimethylbenzaldehyde. | [References]
