Piketoprofen is a potent aryl propionamide nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used for local anti-inflammatory and analgesic purposes. It has advantages such as rapid and sustained action, good tolerability, and a low incidence of side effects. It provides superior symptom relief compared to similar preparations containing salicylates and mesothelione. Clinically, it is suitable for pain relief in inflammatory conditions of the musculoskeletal system, such as osteoarthritis and myositis; it can also be used topically as an adjunct treatment for rheumatic diseases of the musculoskeletal system, such as periarthritis, arthropathy, rheumatoid myositis, low back pain, and torticollis. There are no contraindications for topical use and no symptoms of poisoning. Occasionally, side effects such as erythema, itching, stinging, and local fever have been observed in a few hypertensive patients. |
