3,6-Dibromo-9-phenylcarbazole (0.075 mol) and pinacol ester of bisboronic acid (0.164 mol) were dissolved in 300 mL of dioxane and potassium acetate (0.375 mol) and tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium (0.00075 mol) were added sequentially. The reaction mixture was heated to reflux for 5 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, the reaction was quenched with dichloromethane and water. The organic phase was separated and filtered through a silica gel funnel. Subsequently, the organic phase was concentrated under reduced pressure to remove the solvent. Finally, the resulting solid was purified by column chromatography to afford the target product 9-phenyl-3,6-bis(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)-9H-carbazole (45% yield). | [References]
