Methyl 3-Z-iodoacrylate was converted to methyl (E)-3-iodoacrylate by hydriodic acid-catalyzed isomerization reaction in benzene (24,25) using methyl (Z)-3-iodoacrylate as a raw material. The reaction also produced the by-product methyl 3-pentyl-1-iodoacrylate 13 in 85% yield (Scheme 3). | [References]
