| Hazard Information | Back Directory | [Description]
Eglinazine-ethyl is a pre-emergence herbicide. It is moderately soluble in water and tends not to be persistent in soil. There are gaps in the reported environmental fate data. It has a low mammalian toxicity. Little has been reported on its ecotoxicity. | [Production Methods]
Eglinazine ethyl was produced commercially as a triazine herbicide through stepwise substitution on a cyanuric chloride (2,4,6 trichloro s triazine) core. The process involved sequential reactions with ethylamine and other alkylamines under controlled temperature and pH conditions to selectively replace chlorine atoms on the triazine ring. A final substitution introduced the ethyl group, yielding the active herbicidal compound. The crude product was purified by crystallisation or solvent extraction to ensure consistent purity and stability. | [Mechanism of action]
