1,3,4,6-Tetrachlorotetrahydroimidazo(4,5-d)imidazole-2,5(1H,3H)-dione can be used to prepare a flame retardant compound, tetra(O-methyl-phenylphosphine)glycourea. The preparation method involves controlling the molar ratio of tetrachloroglycourea to dimethyl phenylphosphine at 1:4 to 1:6, adding dimethyl phenylphosphine dropwise to a solution of tetrachloroglycourea in an organic solvent in four portions, reacting at 80°C to 100°C for 5 to 7 hours, and then purifying to obtain the product, tetra(O-methyl-phenylphosphine)glycourea. This compound is an excellent halogen-free phosphorus-nitrogen synergistic flame retardant and can be used for flame retardancy of polyester PBT, polyester PET, polyvinyl chloride, polyurethane, epoxy resin, and unsaturated resins. The process is simple, requires little equipment investment, and is easily industrialized. |
