Nitric oxide donor that begins to evolve nitric oxide immediately upon solubilization in aqueous buffers (t1/2 = 10 h). Mimics the actions of nitric oxide, including the relaxation of isolated bovine coronary artery rings (EC50 = 130 nM). Markedly activates soluble guanylate cyclase.
