Step B: Benzyl protected phenol (8.5 g, 32 mmol) and Pd/C catalyst (750 mg, 10 wt% Pd) were dissolved in methanol (CH3OH). The solution was placed in a Parr reactor and the reaction was oscillated at 25°C for 17 h at a hydrogen pressure of 50 psi. Upon completion of the reaction, the catalyst was removed by diatomaceous earth filtration. The filtrate was concentrated to give 5.6 g (98% yield) of phenol as a white solid. | [References]
