Methylmagnesium bromide (2 mL, 3.0 mol/L, 6 mmol) was added slowly and dropwise to an anhydrous tetrahydrofuran (10 mL) solution of quinoxaline-6-carboxylic acid methoxy-methyl-amide (1 g, 4.6 mmol) at 0°C and under nitrogen protection. The reaction solution was gradually warmed to room temperature over 2 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, the reaction was quenched with ammonium chloride solution and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic phases were combined and concentrated to give the crude product. The crude product was purified by silica gel column chromatography to afford 1-(quinoxalin-6-yl)ethanone (600 mg, 75.7% yield). | [References]
