Hazard Information | Back Directory | [Description]
Safracin B (87578-99-2) is a novel antibiotic of the saframycin family produced by?Pseudomonas fluorescens.1?Safracin B displays antitumor activity against L1210 and P388 leukemias and B16 melanoma. Compared with safracin A, the toxic and effective doses were much lower. Safracin B also prolonged the life of tumor-bearing mice to a greater extent than safracin A.2 | [Uses]
Safracin B is a new antibiotics from the family of Safracin produced by Pseudomonas fluorescens A2-2. Safracin B is an antibiotic that exhibits anti-tumor properties. | [in vivo]
Safracin B (0.005-5 mg/kg/day; for 9 days) prolongs the life span of tumor-bearing mice and shows antitumor activity against L1210 and P388 leukemias and B16 melanoma in Female BALB/c x DBA/2 F1 (CD2F1) mice weighing 19-24 g[2].
The LD50 is 7.3 mg/kg with safracin B in normal CD2F1 mice by ip administration[2].
