Under nitrogen protection, 1,3-dimethylethyl phenylmethyl-1,3-butanediyl biscarbamate (0.19 g, 0.59 mmol) was dissolved in 5 mL of ethanol and 30 mg of 10% palladium/carbon catalyst was added. The reaction mixture was placed under hydrogen atmosphere (1 atm) and stirred at room temperature for 5 hours. After completion of the reaction, the catalyst was removed by filtration and the filtrate was concentrated to give 0.10 g of tert-butyl (3-aminobutyl)carbamate in 90% yield. | [References]
