Neuromedin N is a neurotensin-like peptide. | [Biological Activity]
Neuromedin N is a hexapeptide th at is related to neurotensin. Its precursorproneuromedin Nis expressed in the adrenalsbraingut and also in several cancers. In myoelectric activityit has been reported to act in a similar manner as neurotensin at a lesser degree of potency. Neuromedin N has been shown to increase the chemotaxis capacity of mouse lymphocytes and to modulate function of the hypothalamo-pituitary-adrenocortical axis in rats. Neuromedin N has been proposed to exert its actions via increase in intracellular Ca2+ concentrationalthough this is uncertain. |
