Methyl 2-[cinnamylideneamino]benzoate has only little more thanacademic interest. The spicy cinnamic note israrely wanted along with Orangeblossom-notes, except in certain variations of the Ori-ental fragrances. The two odor types can be obtained withless hazard of discoloration if the Methyl-N-methylanthranilate is used plus e. g. Methyl-cinnamic aldehyde, both more stable com-ponents, not forming any sort of condensationproduct. | [Synthesis]
Methyl 2-[cinnamylideneamino]benzoate is produced by "condensation" of equal Mols. of Cinnamic aldehyde and Methyl anthranilate. |
