Biological Activity
Phytosphingosine exhibits cutaneous anti-microbial barrier function. It acts as a natural anti-inflammatory agent. PHS stimulates keratinocyte differentiation. Thus, it is used as an active component in the cosmetic formulations. PHS is implicated in maintaining the structural integrity of the membranes.
