개요
Methanol adhesive, also known as carbinol adhesive, is a gelatinous resin obtained
by polymerization of dimethyl vinylethynyl methanol (DMVEM) monomer under the
initiation of benzoyl peroxide.
용도
Methanol adhesive is characterized by high tensile strength (about 200 kg.cm
–2),
excellent oil resistance or cold resistance; especially it can be bonded at room temperature, so it has been widely used in aviation industry, optical industry and machinery
manufacturing industry. However, it also has some shortcomings, mainly that it is
poor in resistance to water and organic solvent, and is not resistant to high temperatures. It is not ideal under the conditions of bearing shear stress and bending stress.
