Description

It acts as a hydrotrope, solubilizing hydrophobic substances in aqueous environments. It also prevents protein aggregation, alters membrane dynamics and metal homeostasis, and is used in a flotation process for cleaning and processing coal. It is an aliphatic alcohol, a primary alcohol and a carbocyclic compound.
