| Methyl Green Usage And Synthesis |
Description | Methyl Green is a DNA stain used as a tracking dye in acid buffers for electrophoresis. It helps differentiate bacteria and is also a tissue stain for nucleoli and mitochondria in tissues. It is used with Bismarck Brown frequently. | Uses | Methyl Green powder dye is used in various staining methods in microscopy. It is also used with Pyronine Y dye for one stage DNA (green) and RNA (red) staining method. It is also used as a counterstain with other reactions, such as demonstration of enzymatic activity and for mitochondrial staining according to Altmann. Methyl green solution is a suitable counterstain for chloroacetate esterase, nonspecific esterase, alkaline phosphatase, peroxidase, naphthol AS acetate esterase, and acid phosphatase. | Preparation | chlorine methane and (C.I.Basic Violet 1, C.I. 42535) reaction | Definition | ChEBI: Methylene green is an organic chloride salt having 3,7-bis(dimethylamino)-4-nitrophenothiazin-5-ium as the counterion. It stains nuclei green and is sometimes used as a counterstain to red or purple primary stains. It has a role as a fluorochrome and a histological dye. It contains a 3,7-bis(dimethylamino)-4-nitrophenothiazin-5-ium. | Properties and Applications | green light blue. Soluble in water for blue light green, not soluble in ethanol and e alcohol. The strong sulfuric acid to red light yellow, yellow green for diluted. Dyes to join sodium hydroxide solution to colorless.
