4-Benzoylbiphenyl (4-Phenylbenzophenone; HRcure-PBZ ) is a reagent used to synthesize multicolored mechanochromic luminogen molecules. HRcure-PBZ is a low odor photoinitiator, which is a molecule that absorbs photons upon irradiation with light and forms reactive species out of the excited state, which initiates consecutive reactions.
| Application | 4-Benzoylbiphenyl (HRcure-PBZ) is a benzophenone analog with large aromatic ring systems. Sakamoto et al. investigated the properties of benzophenone ketyl radical analogs with large aromatic ring systems, such as naphthyl phenyl ketone, 4-benzoyl biphenyl, and bis(biphenyl-4-yl)methanone in the excited state by using nanosecond–picosecond two-color two-laser flash photolysis[1]. | Flammability and Explosibility | Not classified | References | [1] Masanori Sakamoto. “Properties of Excited Ketyl Radicals of Benzophenone Analogues Affected by the Size and Electronic Character of the Aromatic Ring Systems.” Chemistry - A European Journal 12 6 (2006): 1610–1617.
