UsesThe α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid receptor (AMPA receptor), a heterotetrameric transmembrane receptor, is found in various areas of the brain and mediates fast synaptic transmission in the central nervous system (1). Cl-HIBO (chloro-homoibotenic acid) is a subtype selective AMPA receptor agonist (2).
Biological ActivitySubtype-selective and strongly desensitising AMPA receptor agonist; selective for GluR1 and GluR2 subunit-containing receptors (EC 50 values are 4.7, 1.7, 2700 and 1300 μ M for rat recombinant homomeric GluR1, 2, 3 and 4 receptors respectively).
