Biological ActivityRXRG belongs to the retinoid receptor family of nuclear receptors th at mediate the cellular effects of retinoic acid. RXRG increases DNA binding and transcription of genes regulated by retinoic acid, thyroid hormone and vitamin D. Mutations in RXRG gene is reportedly associated with diabetic retinopathy.
