| Chemical Properties | White solid | | Synthesis | Synthesis of compound 11-3 (5-bromo-2-methoxypyrimidine): to a solution of 5-bromo-2-chloropyrimidine (11-2, 2.0 g, 10 mmol) in methanol (15 mL) was added sodium methanolate (CH3ONa, 2.16 g, 40 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at 70 °C overnight. Upon completion of the reaction, methanol was removed by rotary evaporator under reduced pressure. Water (10 mL) was slowly added to the residue, followed by extraction with ethyl acetate (300 mL x 3). The organic phases were combined, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate (Na2SO4), filtered and concentrated to give 11-3 as a yellow solid (1.17 g, 60% yield). | | References | [1] Patent: US9138427, 2015, B2.
