Preparation | Preparation by hydrogenation of 2-allyl-3-hydroxy- 4,6-di-acetyl-N-ethylaniline (SM) in ethanol in the presence of 5% Pd/C at 15–20 psi for 2.5 h (63%). SM was obtained by Claisen rearrangement of 3-(allyloxy)-4,6-diacetyl-N-ethyl-aniline (m.p. 82–83°) in refluxing N-methylpyrrolidone under nitrogen for 1 h. |
