| Description | Clarithromycin may be bacteriostatic or bactericidal depending on the organism and drug concentration. It is a semisynthetic macrolide antibiotic derived from erythromycin, inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the bacterial 50S ribosomal subunit.
