| Chemical Properties | Light yellow crystalline | | Uses | 2-Fluoro-5-nitrophenylacetic acid can be used to prepare thickened heterocyclic compounds as protein kinase inhibitors. | | Synthesis | General procedure for the synthesis of 2-fluoro-5-nitrophenylacetic acid from o-fluorophenylacetic acid: o-fluorobenzoic acid (30.0 g, 0.19 mol) was dissolved in a mixed solution of concentrated sulfuric acid (50 mL) and water (10 mL). A mixed solution of fuming nitric acid (10 mL) and water (10 mL) was added slowly and dropwise at 0 °C. The reaction mixture was kept stirred at 0 °C for 30 min. Upon completion of the reaction, the resulting precipitate was collected by filtration and washed with cold water.
