| Production Methods | Methallyl alcohol is prepared by hydrolysis of methallyl chloride in a 10 wt% aqueous sodium hydroxide solution. Pure methallyl alcohol can be obtained by methanolysis of methallyl acetate in the presence of catalytic amounts of bases. Methallyl alcohol is used in the preparation of polymerizable esters.
