2-Bromo-4-nitrobenzaldehyde is a reagent that can be used for the synthesis of biaryl compounds. It is often used to prepare quinoline derivatives, which are useful for the synthesis of biologically active molecules. The 2-bromo-4-nitrobenzaldehyde can be prepared by Wittig olefination with triarylbismuth, followed by an elimination reaction with aqueous acid. This reagent is also used in cross coupling reactions to synthesize cyclic compounds and has been shown to be effective in the synthesis of yields of cyclopentane and cyclohexane derivatives.
