Uses: 

2-naphthol can be used for the determination of bromine, chlorine, chlorate, niobium, copper, nitrite and potassium; Determination of carbon monoxide, copper, nitrite and potassium; Qualitative determination of allyl alcohol, methanol, chloroform, etc. Substrate for fluorescence determination of phenolsulfontransferase; Ethylene absorbent; Fluorescent indicator; Acid-base indicator; Dye intermediate

Production method: 

The preparation method is to add sulfuric acid to molten naphthalene at 140℃, sulfonate at 162 ~ 164℃, hydrolyze the sulfonate, blow away free naphthalene, react with sodium sulfite to form 2-naphthalene sulfonate sodium salt, the Chemicalbook sodium salt solid and sodium hydroxide at 285 ~ 320℃ for alkali melting. Then it is held at 320 ~ 330℃ for 1h, the alkali melt is diluted and then injected with sulfur dioxide for acidification to obtain rough products, and the products are distilled after washing and dehydration.
