Application: 

4-amino-2-fluorophenol can be used as an intermediate in pharmaceutical chemistry and organic synthesis. In the organic synthesis transformation, the phenolic hydroxyl group and amino group in the structure can react with alkyl halides to obtain corresponding alkylation products, which can be used in the synthesis of disinfectants, epoxy resins and preservatives.

Preparation: 

Add tin (1.65 g, 14 mmol) and the corresponding phenol precursor compound (10 mmol) to a 100 ml round-bottomed flask, add a stirring rod and a reflux condenser to the system, and then add water (24 ml) to the reaction mixture, followed by concentrated hydrochloric acid (9 ml). After the reaction, the reaction mixture was cooled, and then 5M sodium hydroxide solution (20mL) was added to the reaction mixture, and the aqueous phase was extracted with ethyl acetate (3x50cm3). The organic extract was washed with saturated sodium bicarbonate aqueous solution and salt water. The organic layer was dried with MgSO4. The target product 4-amino-2-fluorophenol can be obtained by removing the solid magnesium sulfate through filtration and concentrating the organic layer until dry.
