Chemical properties

White to brownish yellow or blue-gray needle-like crystals (crystallized in ether), with a sweet woody fragrance and aroma of perfume, with a strong vanilla-like sweetness. It can be oxidized to odorless 3,4-dimethoxybenzoic acid (cucurbitic acid) in air. The temperature of 43 to 45 ° C. It is insoluble in cold water and soluble in hot water, ethanol and oil. Natural products are found in Java citronella oil and arborvitae oil.

Use

1.GB 2760-1996 provides for the use of food spices. 2  This product is an organic synthesis intermediate. The pharmaceutical industry is used to synthesize the drug methyldopa, and is also used to produce the veterinary drug sulfaamine synergist. The veterinary drug is formulated into the feed at 0.02% by weight to increase the effect of the added iodine drug in the feed for controlling bacterial infection of the poultry.
