Application: The oldest known vat dye for cotton, linen and viscose fibers — most famously used for indigo denim / jeans dyeing; food colorant (edible blue, approved in selected regions); cosmetic colorant; active component of traditional Chinese medicine "Qing Dai" (Indigo Naturalis) for heat-clearing and detoxifying; natural organic semiconductor for organic field-effect transistors (OFETs); analytical reagent; colorant for inks and coatings.

Storage: Store in a tightly sealed container, in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place at room temperature. Keep away from strong oxidizing agents, direct sunlight and heat. Practically insoluble in water, ethanol and ether; slightly soluble in hot DMSO / DMF.
