C3bot (154-182) is a transferase-deficient neurotrophic peptide fragment of Clostridium C3 protein, which is a straight chain peptide composed of 29 amino acids. C3bot (154-182) promotes the growth and branching of axons and dendrites in hippocampal neurons at submicromolar concentrations, and also promotes nerve regeneration of target tissues in organotypic hippocampal/olfactory slice cultures. It can reduce the level of reactive neuron RhoA through non enzymatic mechanisms, and has the biological function of enhancing functional recovery and regeneration in spinal cord injury mouse models.
