AUTAC4 is a synthetic mitochondria-targeting autophagy-targeting chimera (AUTAC) designed to promote selective mitochondrial turnover through mitophagy . It is a multifunctional small molecule containing a guanine-derived AUTAC moiety, a mitochondrial-targeting component, and a flexible polyether linker that connects the functional regions.
AUTAC4 promotes K63-linked polyubiquitination and facilitates the autophagic clearance of dysfunctional or fragmented mitochondria, providing a chemical approach for studying mitochondrial quality control and targeted autophagic degradation. In cellular research, AUTAC4 has been reported to induce mitophagy and help restore mitochondrial function following mitochondrial injury.
