Steps:
1.1.2.1.2.1 1.2.1. Preparation of 2- (2-bromoethyl) benzyl bromide (LA)
Isochroman (5.4 g, 40 mmol) and 33% hydrogen bromide in acetic acid (30 ml) are transferred in a 100 ml thick wall pressure flask, closed and placed in an oil bath at 110 C for 18 h. Thereafter, the mixture is cooled to room temperature, poured into 200 ml water and extracted with diethyl ether (3 × 200 ml) . The organic phases are collected, combined and washed with a 1.0 M NaOH solution (200 ml) and saturated brine (200 ml) , dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and filtered. Evaporation of the solvent gives the product 10.2 g, 92% yield. The compound was characterized by1H-and13C-NMR spectroscopy.
